Hey ya'll anime fans and otakus out there wherever you may be, it's anime review time again (been awhile since the last review, kinda busy with some workstuff and what not), so here are some 5 animovies and 5 anime series which I think are worth watching, or at least having some 'LoL' values for ya'll to make fun of (LoL). As usual I'm just gonna make a really short and simple review of each of these, don't wanna be a spoiler now (and also cuz i'm just too lazy to make long reviews)~ :p
Momo e no Tegami (movie)
Genre:
Drama, Supernatural
Creator:
Okiura Hiroyuki
Vintage:
2011
Type/length:
animovie
Personal rating: 8/10
* A letter to Momo, an unfinished letter wrote by Momo's father just before he passed away, saying "Dear Momo...", and that's all there is. Will she finally find out about what her father really had to say to her in the letter? Watch it, it's awesome. It sorta got that Ghibli's 'Spirited Away' feel to it ^^
Tokyo Godfathers (movie)
Genre:
Drama, Comedy, Adventure, Psychological
Creator:
Satoshi Kon
Vintage:
2003
Type/length:
animovie
Personal rating: 8.5/10
* Okama (drag queen), oyaji (old man), joshikousei (highschool girl), to sutego akanbo (and a thrown away baby).... homeles, on the cold snowy streets of Tokyo. Oh my yare yare, what an unlikely merry combination this is, as each has a sad and epic story to share.
Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (movie)
Genre:
Drama, Romance, Supernatural, Myth
Creator:
Mamoru Hosoda
Vintage:
2012
Type/length:
animovie
Personal rating: 7.5/10
* Mindblown and jaw dropping, defying all the norms of humanity. Manwolf, really? Are you friggin' kidding me nippon? Lol... but really it's something new, daring, taboo breaking, and out of the ordinary.... very 2012 material it is~ hohoho~
Sword of the Stranger (movie)
Genre:
Action, Adventure, Supernatural
Creator:
BONES
Vintage:
2008
Type/length:
animovie
Personal rating: 8/10
* Blood, sword fight, bloody sword fight between Chinese and Japanese army all the way till the end... damn wickedly awesome lol
Blood: The Last Vampire (movie)
Genre:
Action, Horror, Supernatural, Mystery, Thriller
Creator:
Production I.G
Vintage:
2000
Type/length:
animovie + live action movie
Personal rating: 7.5/10
* Blood (as the title explains it), bloody sword fight (also as the title says), human massacre by mutated ugly vampires who try to take over humanity, and one school girl of mysterious origin - half human half vampy who will mercilessly slay those vamps one by one... you go girl, kill em before they lay eggs lol
Blood +
Genre:
Action, Drama, Romance, Supernatural, Mystery
Creator:
Junichi Fujisaku
Vintage:
2005
Type/length:
50 episodes (completed)
Personal rating: 7.5/10
* Well basically this is like.... a soft romantic version/sequel to the animovie Blood: The last vampire, where Saiya (the girl with human+vamp blood) is less ruthless and more warmhearted. She gains support from her step family and long lost guardian from her distant past, in fighting the dreaded vamp clan lead by her evil twin sister. Oh yeah the OP and ED themes, and OST in this piece are awesome ^^
Kappa no Kaikata
Genre:
Comedy, Supernatural
Creator:
Yugo Ishikawa
Vintage:
2004
Type/length:
26 episodes (completed)
Personal rating: 7/10
* It's a make-believe short documentary series of how to raise your pet kappa. It's so damn ridiculous yet realistic you'd think it's actually logical.... creepy, but funny. If you like raising pets at home, you'd understand what I mean.
Chi's Sweet Home
Genre:
Comedy, Slice of life
Creator:
Kanata Konomi
Vintage:
2008
Type/length:
104 episodes (completed) +
Chi's New Address (season 2)
Personal rating: 8/10
* Very easygoing, all age appropriate, cute and strangely addictive. If you like cats, I guarantee you'd love this continuous compilation of short 3 minute episodes of everyday kitty life... you can never, I mean really never get bored of this lil' kitty named Chi, nyaaa~ (=^w^=)
Naruto SD: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden
Genre:
Comedy, Action
Creator: Masashi Kishimoto
Vintage: 2012
Type/length: 51 episodes (completed)
Personal rating: 7/10
* Oh Lee... everybody turned chibi, and everybody automatically lost their serious side of personality. Nothing is serious in this version of Naruto Shippuuden, it's almost like a troll to the original anime, but it's hilarious so yeah... kinda fun to watch ^^
Aku no Hana
Genre:
Psychological, Drama
Creator: Shuzo Oshimi
Vintage: 2013
Type/length: 13 episodes (completed)
Personal rating: 7.5/10
* It's kinda boring and slow at the beginning, but as it goes on it starts to have that mindblown WTH effect, which will leave you wondering what in the world is going on in the creator's head... lol. This is no kiddies stuff, highly psychological, suitable for those studying human psychology, school education and counseling.
~Previous anime reviews~
Well that's all for now kiddies, watch out for my 6th anime review coming soon (in a few months from now I guess)~ :3
As usual, here's another one of my home-made acoustic (guitar+vocal) anime
song cover 'Michi - To you all (Aluto)', one of Naruto Shippuuden's early ending
themes. NS has been reviewed in Personal Anime Review #1 ^^
Video
has been purposely mirrored. Visual (clip) belongs to NS, audio
belongs to me, and the original song belongs to Aluto.
Jya mata ne koneko tachi chan~ (=^w^=)
